For those of us with desk jobs, many times, is easier to dedicate a few minutes to shop online during our breaks than to go shopping after a long day of work.

Without any doubt, online shopping is way easier than in person: you can visit dozens of stores from your comfortable couch instead of dealing with traffic, parking, long lines and heavy lifting (shopping bags can get really hefty).

However, online shopping also has its tricks and secrets and being aware of them can mean more savings and less headaches.

We are in the business of fulfilling online orders so we want everyone to have a great buying experience. Therefore, to avoid setbacks as much as possible, we created a list of tips that will help you have a smooth sail on the shopping sites.

  1. Make sure you know how much your wanted item costs on a retail store, in order to compare it to online prices. Many times online prices show that they have been reduced but in reality, the original offer was above market price.
  1. Double check the size chart – Asian online stores are invading the social media ads platform and their sizes run extremely small – plus returns are very complicated since they don’t send return labels nor they send confirmation emails from where you can pull their info.
  1. Read the reviews from past customers – this will give you an idea of their issues (if any) and decide if you want to continue with the purchase. Make sure the reviews are “verified” so you know they were left by real people.
  1. Read the return policy before you buy. Last week I went to a store to return items I had bought on their online platform and they would not issue me a store credit in person, I had to wait for it to arrive in the mail which defeated the purpose of going in person – I could have returned the items via snail mail myself!
  1. Careful with the “free shipping” deals. Most sites that offer free freight have a minimum amount to be spent in order to qualify and many times, to get it we end up spending much more.
